Netflix appears to be reviving one of its most popular promotional offers by rolling out free trial subscriptions to select new users, nearly six years after discontinuing the programme globally.
The streaming platform has confirmed that eligible users in select countries may now see 30-day or 15-day free trial offers while creating a new account. The move is seen as an effort to attract new subscribers by allowing them to explore Netflix’s catalogue before committing to a paid plan.

Though there have been no official announcements regarding the revival of the offer in India, Gadgets 360 reported that it managed to confirm a ‘Try 30 days for ₹0’ offer while signing up for a new account by using a new email ID.
Who can get the Netflix free trial offer?
As per Netflix’s Help Centre, the offer is valid for eligible users only.
It explained that the free trial automatically gets displayed to the users if the user account, device and location qualify for the same. If no such trial offer shows up on the screen, it indicates that the user’s account doesn’t qualify at the moment.

It has been suggested that it is currently experimenting with different offers as some users see a 30-day trial offer whereas others get a 15-day trial period, suggesting that the company is doing a little A/B testing in selected regions.
Netflix had phased out its free trial programme globally around 2020, making this one of the first signs that the feature could be making a comeback.
How can you check if you’re eligible?
Users can verify their eligibility by creating a new account using an email address that has not previously been linked to the platform.
If eligible, the sign-up page may display an offer such as “Try 30 days for ₹0” or a 15-day free trial.

To activate the offer, users must:
Create a new account.
Select a subscription plan.
Add a valid payment method, including a debit card, credit card or supported UPI option.
Complete registration and begin streaming.
Netflix notes that subscriptions are set to auto-renew by default, meaning users will be charged automatically unless they cancel the membership before the free trial ends.
Why is Netflix bringing back free trials?
Netflix has not officially explained the move. However, industry observers believe the streaming giant could be evaluating whether limited-time free access helps convert more users into paying subscribers.
