Linda Noskova captured her maiden Grand Slam title after defeating fellow Czech Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 in a gripping Wimbledon 2026 women’s singles final on Saturday. The 21-year-old overcame a dramatic second-set collapse before sealing victory on her sixth championship point to lift the prestigious Venus Rosewater Dish.

After converting the winning point with a service winner, an emotional Noskova covered her face before falling onto the Centre Court grass in celebration. She later received the trophy from Kate, the Princess of Wales.

Linda Noskova overcomes five missed championship points

Noskova looked in complete control early in the match as she dominated the opening set and moved within touching distance of the title in the second.

However, the contest took a dramatic turn when she failed to convert five match points after leading 5-2 in the second set. Struggling to close out the match, she briefly left the court before the deciding set, where a glance at the winner’s trophy helped reset her mindset.

“I was like, ‘I’m not going to take the small one. I’m taking the big one. I have been so close. This will probably be the heartbreak of my life. I’m going to leave my soul on court in the third set, whatever that be.'”

The strategy worked as Noskova regrouped, regained her composure and finally secured the title in the deciding set.

What did Noskova say after winning Wimbledon?

Speaking during the trophy presentation, Noskova acknowledged the challenge posed by Muchova. “It’s never easy to get the last point. Karo, you really made me work for it,” Noskova said.

She also praised her fellow Czech after the historic all-Czech final. “I am so glad that I could play my first Grand Slam final with you. We made history today. All our Czech fans at home are proud of us no matter the result. It was a good day for both of us.”

Noskova became the third Czech woman in four years to win Wimbledon, following Marketa Vondrousova in 2023 and Barbora Krejcikova in 2024.
