A 17-year-old footballer was allegedly hacked to death in West Bengal’s Baruipur shortly after winning a football match, in an incident that triggered protests and heightened tensions in the South 24 Parganas district.
The alleged victim, who has been identified as Prosenjit Biswas, was lured to a certain spot and brutally murdered using sharp weapons by three individuals following the match. All the three suspects have already been taken into custody by the police and they are investigating the reason for the murder.

Reports reveal that the crime occurred in Baruipur, where Prosenjit Biswas was said to have played a football match prior to the alleged murder.

Investigators suspect the assault may have stemmed from an earlier dispute linked to the match, although the exact motive is still under investigation.

Injuries suffered by Prosenjit were very serious as he was slashed with sharp objects, and reportedly his throat had been cut. He was taken to Baruipur Sub-Divisional Hospital where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Protests erupt, RAF deployed
This murder has caused great public outrage, resulting in the blocking of streets outside the hospital.
As per accounts, the tensions were aggravated when the accused persons were brought to the hospital. It is alleged that a police outpost inside the hospital was also vandalised during the riots.

The Rapid Action Force (RAF) was deployed to restore order as police dispersed the crowd and strengthened security in the area.
Police probe continues
It has been reported that all the three accused have been arrested and are being investigated to find out the timeline of events and the cause of the attack.
This incident has come at a time when Baruipur has seen a lot of public outrage against rape and murder of an 11-year-old child girl.
