Noida International Airport has made a significant move towards enhancing its domestic connectivity with direct flight operations to 16 destinations in India, which has resulted in a substantial improvement in air travel facilities for the residents of western Uttar Pradesh as well as the Delhi-NCR region.

The relocation is likely to alleviate the congestion in the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) at Delhi and shorten the travel time.

The airport now has direct flights to Amritsar, Bareilly, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Dharamshala, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kishangarh, Lucknow, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pantnagar, according to NDTV. Notably, Pantnagar will get two flights daily, boosting connectivity with Uttarakhand.

Improves the interconnection of NCR & western UP

The new network will be beneficial for passengers from Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura and Agra, who used to have to travel long distances through heavy traffic to reach Delhi’s IGI Airport.

The new airport offers an alternative which is nearer and more convenient, thus saving time and commuting expenses, NDTV reported. The new connectivity is likely to bring a better life to business travelers, tourists, students and working individuals.

Airlines strengthen operations

Domestic carriers like Air India, Akasa Air and IndiGo are helping the airport’s expanding domestic operations. They are expected to take a part of the passenger traffic off the IGI Airport in Delhi, which should help enhance the overall efficiency of travel in NCR region.

On June 16, Noida International Airport received its first scheduled commercial flight from IndiGo airline from Lucknow. The Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu formally inaugurated commercial operations and the first commercial flight from the airport was to Bengaluru.

One special inaugural flight also flew 170 farmers from Jewar region whose land has helped in the construction of the airport to Lucknow.

When added with these new routes, the airport is expected to be a crucial aviation hub in the north that will make it easy and convenient for travellers to fly to and from northern India.
