Air India Express has resumed services to all its West Asia destinations that were suspended during the recent conflict involving Iran, marking a gradual restoration of operations across the region.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the airline announced that flights to Salalah in Oman and Kuwait are being reinstated in phases following disruptions caused by the regional conflict and airspace restrictions.

The budget carrier of the Air India Group said services on the Kozhikode-Salalah route resumed on July 2, while flights between Kozhikode and Kuwait will restart from July 3. Services between Bengaluru and Kuwait are scheduled to resume from July 4.

Flight frequencies to increase gradually

According to Air India Express, the frequency of services to West Asia destinations will be increased in phases over the coming days.

The Kozhikode-Salalah route will initially operate twice a week. Flights between Kozhikode and Kuwait will begin with one weekly service from July 3 before increasing to three weekly flights from July 5.

Similarly, Bengaluru-Kuwait services will start with one flight per week from July 4 and expand to three weekly operations from July 7.

The airline also confirmed that all Kuwait-bound and departing services will operate from Terminal 4 of Kuwait International Airport.

Operations expand in Oman and Navi Mumbai

With the restoration of services to Salalah, Air India Express now operates flights from two airports in Oman — Muscat International Airport and Salalah International Airport.

The other major news for the airline is that it has reintroduced flights between Muscat and Mangaluru from July 3. As per the airline, there are currently about 40 weekly flights operating from Muscat to seven destinations in India.

This move comes after several disruptions to air traffic in West Asia following the rise in hostilities between Iran, which forced many airlines to stop operations or change their routes.

Apart from that, Air India Express has now started booking direct flights between Navi Mumbai International Airport and Abu Dhabi to be launched from July 15.

As per the airline, it will become the first airline to offer international flights from Navi Mumbai greenfield airport.
