The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) marked its 78th Foundation Day along with National Students’ Day on July 9 by organising a series of programmes across educational institutions and campuses throughout India. The organisation said the celebrations highlighted the role of students in nation-building under the theme, “Students’ Power, Nation’s Power.”

Programmes were held at several leading universities, including the University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Banaras Hindu University, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, the University of Allahabad, Panjab University and the University of Hyderabad, besides activities conducted by ABVP units in districts, towns and colleges across the country.

Blood donation camps, seminars and plantation drives organised

As part of the celebrations, students participated in seminars, youth interaction sessions, blood donation camps, tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, counselling programmes, essay and debate competitions, cultural events and intellectual discussions. Floral tribute and cleanliness programmes were also organised at memorials dedicated to Swami Vivekananda.

ABVP said that these activities witnessed participation from lakhs of students, who also pledged their commitment towards social responsibility and national development. On the occasion of National Students’ Day, the organisation extended greetings to students across the country and encouraged them to contribute to India’s future through active participation in society.

ABVP announces upcoming nationwide campaigns

The organisation also introduced students to several of its ongoing initiatives, including Students’ for Seva (SFS), Students’ for Development (SFD), Rashtriya Kala Manch (RKM), Khelo Bharat, Mission Sahasi and the Students’ Experience in Interstate Living (SEIL) programme.

ABVP further shared details of its planned nationwide campaigns for the coming year. These include Screen Time to Activity Time, SEIL@60, 150 Years of Vande Mataram, 50 Years of Resistance to the Emergency, the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and the 650th Birth Anniversary of Sant Ravidas Ji. The organisation said these initiatives are aimed at promoting national integration, social responsibility, physical well-being and awareness of India’s cultural heritage among young people.

ABVP says it has over 7.7 million active members

Highlighting its journey over the past 78 years, ABVP stated that its work has extended beyond student movements into areas such as educational reforms, community service, women’s empowerment, environmental conservation, sports, research, arts and personality development. The organisation said it currently has more than 7.7 million active members and continues to focus on student development, quality education and its vision for Viksit Bharat 2047.

Speaking at the Vasundhara programme at Banaras Hindu University, ABVP National General Secretary Dr. Virendra Singh Solanki said, “Throughout its 78-year journey, ABVP has consistently connected the holistic development of students with the larger objective of nation-building. As the world’s largest student organisation today, we remain committed to reaching every student with the spirit of service, organisation, and Nation First.”

Extending his heartfelt greetings to students across the country on National Students’ Day, Dr. Virendra Singh Solanki urged them to embrace the values of knowledge, character, social responsibility and patriotism while actively contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

“Students are not merely the citizens of tomorrow; they are the nation-builders of today”, he added.
