In a case reminiscent of the Ketan Agarwal murder, a 25-year-old man from Manesar, Haryana, allegedly shot dead his wife just three months after their marriage with the help of his girlfriend before fleeing to Nepal with her. The police have launched an investigation and are in the process of collecting evidence.

Per a report by NDTV, a 25-year-old man in Manesar allegedly shot dead his 22-year-old wife after just three months of their marriage. Investigators have claimed that the murder was planned in his girlfriend’s rented room, after which, the couple intended to continue their three-year relationship.

The case came to light on May 22 after the victim’s mother filed a complaint at Manesar Police Station. She told investigators that her 22-year-old daughter had married Ankit, a resident of Manesar, in February.
According to the complaint, the woman went missing on May 21. Her family searched for her and also contacted her in-laws, but received no satisfactory answers. Suspecting that her husband and his family were involved in her disappearance, the victim’s mother approached the police, following which an FIR was registered under the relevant sections.
What did the investigation reveal?
The police recovered the body of the victim from a room in Manesar on May 22, and initial findings revealed that she was shot dead and subsequently, murder charges were added to the case.
The accused husband named Ankit, a resident of Manesar, and his 38-year-old girlfriend Rajni Devi, a resident of Haryana’s Jhajjar district, were allegedly in a relationship for the past three years. According to the police quoted by NDTV, Ankit owns a tobacco shop in Manesar, while Rajni was employed at a beauty parlour in the same locality.
After executing the murder of Ankit’s wife, the couple fled to Haridwar and later crossed into Nepal. They were allegedly on the run until June 30, when they returned to India, and were subsequently arrested by the Crime branch team in Manesar, as per reports by NDTV.

Both accused were produced before a court, which remanded them to five days of police custody.
Police said the accused are being questioned, while efforts are underway to recover the murder weapon and collect further evidence related to the case.
