The IMD landslide warning has put several districts of Himachal Pradesh on high alert as the southwest monsoon continues to remain active across the state. The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rainfall and possible landslides in parts of Shimla, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Kinnaur and Sirmaur over the coming days. Residents and tourists have been advised to stay away from vulnerable locations and closely follow official weather updates before planning any travel.

IMD landslide warning issued for six Himachal districts

According to the Hindustan Times, the IMD landslide warning highlights the possibility of landslides, mudslides, and rising water levels in rivers and other water bodies across several districts. Officials have cautioned that heavy rainfall could trigger hazardous conditions, especially in hilly regions that are prone to slope failures during the monsoon.

The weather department has advised people to avoid unnecessary movement in vulnerable areas and maintain a safe distance from overflowing streams and rivers. Local administrations are also monitoring the situation as rainfall activity continues across the state.

Heavy rainfall likely over the next week

According to Meteorological Centre head Shobhit Katiyar, active monsoon conditions are expected to continue across Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur for the next five to seven days. Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated locations almost every day, while other districts are expected to receive moderate showers.

The IMD landslide warning comes as significant rainfall has already been recorded across Himachal Pradesh during the past 24 hours. Authorities believe the ongoing weather pattern could increase the risk of rain-related incidents in several parts of the state.

The active monsoon spell is expected to continue until around July 13 or 14 before gradually weakening later in the month.
