The West Bengal government has transferred 108 Inspectors-in-Charge (ICs) across the state as part of a major administrative reshuffle. The latest transfer order covers several police stations, district intelligence units and other police wings.
The notification directs all transferred officers to join their new postings at the earliest.
ICs of several police stations shifted
The transfer list includes Inspectors-in-Charge from a number of police stations across South Bengal.
Among those affected are the ICs of:
Baruipur
Sonarpur
Narendrapur
Canning
Diamond Harbour

The reshuffle also includes the ICs of Digha, Contai and Tamluk police stations.
Changes in DIB, DEB and State Traffic Headquarters
Apart from police stations, the transfer order also covers officers serving in the District Intelligence Branch (DIB), District Enforcement Branch (DEB) and the State Traffic Headquarters.
The IC of the DIB in Basirhat Police District has been transferred. The IC of the DIB in Hooghly Rural has also been shifted.
In addition, the Circle Inspector of Basirhat Police District has been transferred. The order also includes the transfer of the Inspector-in-Charge of Sealdah GRP.
Bidhannagar and Jhargram officers exchange postings
The notification also mentions a change involving the Electronic Complex Police Station under the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate.
The current IC of the Electronic Complex Police Station has been posted as the Inspector-in-Charge of Nayagram Police Station in Jhargram. In exchange, the IC of Nayagram Police Station will take charge of the Electronic Complex Police Station.
Officers asked to assume charge quickly
According to the official notification, the reshuffle includes officers from both the Uniformed Branch and the Armed Branch.
The notification states that all transferred officers have been instructed to take charge of their new assignments as early as possible.
