“The Amarnath Yatra, connected with the darshan of Baba Barfani, is an eternal chapter in our spiritual tradition and cultural unity,” Modi wrote while sharing a letter addressed to pilgrims.

PM Modi emphasises on ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ spirit

In his message, PM Modi referred to how the Amarnath Yatra is indicative of the “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”, bringing together devotees from different regions, languages and traditions in a shared expression of faith in India.

Modi appreciated the efforts made by people of Jammu and Kashmir in welcoming the pilgrims every year and thanked soldiers of the Army, Central Armed Police Force (CAPFs), police force of J&K, disaster management teams, health workers, sanitization staff, etc. for their contribution to making the Yatra successful.

In the letter released by the Prime Minister’s office, Modi asked the pilgrims to make five pledges during the Yatra.

The five resolutions for Amarnath pilgrims

The Prime Minister called upon devotees to:

  • Maintain cleanliness and preserve the ecological balance of the Himalayan region and pilgrimage routes.
  • Follow all traffic regulations and safety advisories issued by authorities.
  • Support local products, businesses and livelihoods in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Plant a sapling in the name of family members or loved ones after returning from the pilgrimage.
  • Promote unity, harmony and brotherhood during the yatra.

Modi said these resolutions could transform the pilgrimage into a larger movement promoting environmental responsibility, sustainable development and national integration.

The message, which opened with the greetings “Har Har Mahadev” and “Jai Baba Barfani”, was accompanied by images of the revered ice Shivling at the Amarnath cave shrine.
