A fresh spell of monsoon rain is set to intensify across South Bengal, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy showers and thunderstorms in Kolkata and several neighbouring districts over the next few days.

According to the Alipore Meteorological Department, a strong cyclonic circulation over Bangladesh, along with the monsoon trough, is expected to create one of the strongest rain bands of the season. The weather system is likely to affect Kolkata and South Bengal between July 10 and July 13.
