The Indian Embassy in Bangkok has released a detailed Thailand travel advisory for Indian citizens planning to visit the Southeast Asian nation following changes to Thailand’s visa regulations earlier this year. The advisory comes weeks after Thailand revised its visa-free entry policy, reducing the duration of stay and tightening entry requirements for foreign visitors.
The latest Thailand travel advisory urges Indian travellers to keep essential documents ready, carry sufficient funds and ensure they comply with immigration rules before boarding their flights to avoid inconvenience upon arrival.
Thailand travel advisory highlights key entry requirements
According to the embassy, travellers must carry a passport with at least six months’ validity from the date of arrival. They should also have confirmed return flight tickets, hotel reservations and a clear travel itinerary before entering Thailand.
The Thailand travel advisory further asks visitors to complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card, commonly known as TDAC, which can be filled online within 72 hours before arrival. Officials have also advised travellers to keep all documents readily accessible while approaching immigration counters.
For those travelling in groups, every individual must carry their own travel documents instead of relying on a single group organiser.

Visa rules and cash requirement explained
One of the most important points in the Thailand travel advisory concerns visitors using the Visa on Arrival or visa waiver facility. The embassy has advised such travellers to carry at least 20,000 Thai Baht in cash per passenger, as immigration officials may ask for proof of sufficient financial resources.
The advisory also cautions travellers against using the visa waiver or Visa on Arrival route if they already possess a job offer in Thailand, as the facility is intended only for genuine tourists.
Passengers transiting through Thailand have also been reminded to carry all necessary travel documents and valid visas required for their final destination.

Advisory follows Thailand’s revised visa policy
The Thailand travel advisory follows Bangkok’s decision in May 2026 to withdraw its 60-day visa-free entry policy for travellers from 93 countries, including India. Thai authorities said the move was aimed at preventing misuse of visa privileges and strengthening national security while streamlining the country’s immigration system.
Under the revised rules, Visa on Arrival permits a maximum stay of 15 days per entry. Travellers requiring longer stays are encouraged to apply for an electronic visa before departure.
The Indian Embassy has advised all visitors to carefully review the latest Thailand travel advisory before finalising travel plans, saying compliance with the updated requirements will help ensure a smooth and hassle-free entry into the country.
