Several Netherlands players were subjected to racist abuse on social media after the team’s FIFA World Cup 2026 exit against Morocco, prompting the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) to condemn the attacks and pledge legal action against those responsible.

The Netherlands were knocked out in the Round of 32 after losing 3-2 in a penalty shootout to Morocco following a 1-1 draw after extra time. Justin Kluivert, Quinten Timber and Crysencio Summerville, who missed penalties in the shootout, were among the players targeted with racist messages online.

In an official statement, the KNVB described the abuse as unacceptable and confirmed it would report the incidents to the Dutch reporting centre for online discrimination.
