World No. 1 Jannik Sinner continued his title defence at Wimbledon 2026 by defeating Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff in straight sets to secure a place in the men’s singles semi-finals. The Italian overcame a spirited challenge from the 36-year-old before sealing a 7-5, 7-6(4), 6-3 victory on Centre Court.
Struff pushes Sinner in opening two sets
Struff, playing in his maiden Grand Slam quarter-final, made Sinner work hard for every point. The German’s powerful serve kept the first set on level terms until the 12th game, when Sinner produced a crucial late break to take the set 7-5.

The second set was even more competitive as both players held serve throughout. Struff earned a set point while leading 6-5, but Sinner saved it with calm and composed tennis. The top seed then took control of the tie-break, winning it 7-4 to move within one set of victory.
Defending champion finishes strongly
After surviving the toughest phase of the contest, Sinner raised his level in the third set. He broke Struff’s serve early and never allowed his opponent back into the match, closing out the set 6-3 to book his place in the last four.

The victory marks Sinner’s third consecutive Wimbledon semi-final and keeps alive his hopes of defending the title he won last year. The Italian has looked increasingly confident throughout the tournament and remains one of the favourites to lift the trophy once again.
Although his Wimbledon journey ended in the quarter-finals, Struff impressed with the best Grand Slam run of his career. The veteran German received a standing ovation from the Centre Court crowd after an outstanding campaign that included several memorable performances.
Sinner will now take on the winner of the quarter-final between Novak Djokovic and Felix Auger-Aliassime for a place in the Wimbledon 2026 final.
