Following the success of Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh is now gearing up for his next big project.
The actor is set to headline filmmaker Jai Mehta’s zombie survival thriller Pralay, a film that has been in development for some time and is finally ready to go on floors. According to sources close to the production, shooting is expected to begin in September 2026.
“The shooting will start in September. However, the location is not finalised yet,” sources told NDTV.
A genre India hasn’t seen before, says Jai Mehta
Speaking to Variety India, Mehta said, “It’s the kind of film that India hasn’t made yet, the kind of film that India hasn’t seen before.”
The film is reportedly mounted on a massive budget of nearly Rs 300 crore, with an international crew on board to help bring its large-scale zombie universe to life. The screenplay has been written by Jai Mehta and Vishal Kapoor, who previously worked on Lootere.
Ranveer is said to be fully invested in the project and excited to explore a genre Bollywood has rarely attempted. He is also expected to sport a completely new look for the film as he steps into its dark, dystopian world.
There is also speculation that Kalyani Priyadarshan has been cast as the female lead opposite Ranveer. If confirmed, Pralay will mark her Bollywood debut following the success of Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra.

FWICE order raises questions over production
On May 25, 2026, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh after he reportedly walked out of Don 3. Reports suggest filmmaker Farhan Akhtar had raised the matter with the federation months earlier.
While the directive is not an official ban, industry insiders believe it could create practical challenges for projects involving the actor.
Since Pralay was initially expected to begin filming in August 2026, the revised September schedule has also raised questions over whether the ongoing dispute could affect the production timeline or create logistical challenges for the crew.
