Passengers, airlines and the tourism sector welcomed the decision to withdraw the proposed weekly closure of Srinagar airport. Authorities had earlier issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) proposing a complete shutdown of the airport on Mondays and Tuesdays, but the plan has now been scrapped, bringing relief to travellers and the aviation industry.

Authorities confirm withdrawal of NOTAM

According to an update issued by the airport, the airfields would operate on all days, with operational and watch hours remaining from 8 am to 5 pm, and would remain closed during night-time for maintenance work until October 2026.

“The previously proposed NOTAM regarding full runway closure on Mondays and Tuesdays is being withdrawn. Airlines will continue to update their schedules in accordance with the prevailing operational timings,” the airport confirmed.

Authorities advised passengers to check the status of their flights with their respective airlines before heading to the airport and to rely only on official sources for updates.

Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah thanked Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu for the decision.
