Vaibhav Sooryavanshi now sits atop an elite list of India’s youngest international debutants.

Sachin Tendulkar previously held the record after making his Test debut against Pakistan at 16 years and 205 days in 1989. The batting legend went on to become the highest run-scorer in international cricket, amassing 100 international centuries during a career that spanned more than two decades.

Piyush Chawla occupies the third position after debuting at 17 years and 75 days. The leg-spinner represented India across formats and was part of the country’s victorious 2011 ODI World Cup squad.

Former leg-spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan made his Test debut at 17 years and 118 days before playing a starring role in India’s famous series win over England during the 1984-85 season.

Completing the top five is wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel, who became the youngest wicketkeeper to debut in Test cricket when he represented India at 17 years and 153 days.
