The Parliament Monsoon Session 2026 will begin on July 20 and continue until August 13 after President Droupadi Murmu approved the Centre’s recommendation to convene both Houses of Parliament. The announcement was made by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday through a post on social media, confirming that the upcoming session will focus on meaningful debates and legislative business.
The nearly four-week session is expected to witness discussions on several important bills, policy matters, and national issues as lawmakers from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha assemble for one of the key parliamentary sittings of the year.
Parliament Monsoon Session 2026 receives President’s approval
Announcing the schedule, Kiren Rijiju said President Droupadi Murmu had approved the government’s recommendation to summon both Houses of Parliament for the Parliament Monsoon Session 2026.
On the recommendation of the Govt of India, Hon’ble President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu ji has approved the summoning of both the Houses of Parliament for the Monsoon Session 2026.

Sharing the update on X, the Union minister said the session would commence on July 20 and continue till August 13. He added that the extended sitting would provide sufficient time for meaningful debates and the transaction of legislative business.

Government likely to introduce key Bills during session
The Parliament Monsoon Session 2026 is expected to be politically significant as the government prepares to table several important legislative proposals. Apart from introducing new bills, ministers are also likely to respond to questions on governance, the economy, infrastructure, foreign policy, and other pressing national concerns.
The Opposition is also expected to raise issues concerning inflation, unemployment, monsoon preparedness, law and order, and other matters of public interest during debates in both houses.
