England ended the five-match T20I series on a dominant note, defeating India by 56 runs in the fifth and final match at Southampton. A brilliant century from Jos Buttler and a destructive partnership with captain Harry Brook powered the hosts to a huge total before the bowlers wrapped up a convincing win. With the opening game ending in a washout, England completed a commanding 4-0 series victory.

Buttler was at his attacking best, smashing 131 off just 64 balls with 12 fours and eight sixes. Brook played the perfect supporting role, remaining unbeaten on 95 as England posted a daunting 257/3 in 20 overs. It was England’s highest T20I total against India and the biggest score India have conceded in the format.
India fail to keep up in steep chase
Needing 258 for victory, India lost momentum despite a few positive contributions. Ishan Kishan scored 56, while Tilak Varma made 53, but neither batter found enough support from the other end as wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.

England’s bowlers executed their plans well, keeping the required run rate under control throughout the chase. Sam Curran was the standout performer with three wickets, while the rest of the attack chipped in to restrict India to 201/8 in their 20 overs.
The emphatic victory underlined England’s dominance throughout the series. Buttler’s explosive hundred earned him the Player of the Match award, while Brook was named Player of the Series after a string of consistent performances. For India, the defeat marked a disappointing end to the tour, with the visitors unable to find answers to England’s aggressive batting and disciplined bowling across the five-match contest.
