Adams made his senior debut for South Africa in 2022 and went on to establish himself as a regular in midfield. He scored twice during the team’s successful World Cup qualifying campaign before earning a place in the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
At the tournament, he started matches against Mexico and the Czech Republic before making a substitute appearance in the victory over South Korea, helping South Africa reach the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time in the country’s history. Their memorable campaign ended with a Round of 32 defeat to Canada.
The midfielder also faced personal tragedy during the World Cup after his grandmother passed away a day before South Africa’s match against the Czech Republic. Despite the emotional setback, he continued to represent his country with courage and determination.
Adams’ untimely death has left a deep void in South African football. Remembered as a gifted midfielder with immense potential, his legacy will live on through the impact he made for both club and country at such a young age.
