The international crackdown on the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has intensified, with France arresting an alleged key associate linked to the criminal network while Canadian authorities have ordered the deportation of another suspected gang member.

The latest developments come days after law enforcement agencies in the United States, Canada and Europe launched a coordinated operation targeting the gang’s international network, which investigators say is involved in organised crime activities including drug trafficking, extortion and violent offences.

Lawrence Bishnoi aide arrested in France

According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Garinder Dev, an alleged associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has been arrested in France. Authorities said he will now face extradition proceedings to Canada.

The US Department of Justice identifies the 40-year-old as also using the aliases “Doctor,” “Rocket,” and “Ritz Carlton.”

Investigators allege that Dev played a financial role in the Lawrence Bishnoi-linked criminal network. He is accused of helping procure large quantities of cocaine and heroin and conspiring to transport the narcotics from Southern California to destinations across the eastern United States.

The case is linked to an attempted shipment in June 2025 involving approximately 99.2 kilograms of cocaine and one kilogram of heroin, which was intercepted and seized by US authorities before reaching its destination.

Arrest linked to Kapil Sharma café firing case

Canadian authorities have connected Garinder Dev to the ongoing investigation into the firing incident outside comedian Kapil Sharma’s café in Surrey, Canada, a case that has drawn significant attention over alleged links to the Bishnoi gang’s overseas operations.

Canada orders deportation of another alleged gang member

In a separate development, Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Tribunal has ordered the deportation of Jashandeep Singh, another alleged member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Authorities claim Singh helped conceal the weapon allegedly used in the firing outside Kapil Sharma’s café.

However, no formal criminal charges have been filed against him in connection with the case.

Singh arrived in Canada in 2022 on a student visa and has denied all allegations against him.

Earlier, another alleged Bishnoi gang associate, Arshdeep Singh, was also deported from Canada.

International pressure mounts on Bishnoi network

The latest actions by France and Canada come amid a widening international campaign against the Lawrence Bishnoi gang’s overseas operations.

Earlier this week, authorities in the United States, Canada and several European countries conducted a coordinated law enforcement operation targeting India-based transnational organised crime syndicates, including the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The operation resulted in the arrest of 24 suspects across North America and Europe in one of the largest crackdowns against criminal organisations accused of involvement in murder, drug trafficking, extortion and cross-border violence.

As multiple countries continue sharing intelligence and coordinating investigations, pressure is mounting on the gang’s international network and its alleged operatives operating outside India.
